Whereas a healthy housing mix is the lifeblood of a community and is important for both social and economic development and Whereas a healthy housing mix is a bedrock principle in smart growth development and Whereas development and maintenance of housing for people of all income levels is good for the environment and the economy and Whereas New York State is a home-rule state where most development decisions are made at the local level, I hereby petition municipal officials in Ulster County to learn about housing needs in their jurisdictions, to understand the tools available for addressing those needs and to act within the full scope of their powers to accomplish a healthy housing mix in Ulster County’s municipalities.
