The United Way of Ulster County announces the availability of free tax preparation services for low wage workers making up to $44,000 per year (or less). The services are available beginning Saturday,January 28 and every Saturday through to March 3, at the Hudson Valley Mall. Appointments are on the hour from 10 AM to 2 PM. For an appointment with an IRS certified volunteer tax preparer call 845-802-7190.
The effort is being promoted by United Way to increase access to the Earned Income Tax Credit which can bring a low-wage worker and her family up to $5,751. Originally created in 1975, it is one of the best anti-poverty tools there is, but it is estimated that 25% of those
eligible, don't take advantage of it. Call today for your appointment.
